It always been a problem for us when going target practice since we don't have a permanent area to shoot. So we bring along our own equipment. And target stands is bulky stuff. So I decided to make one that is collapsible and lightweight. Going around the house found some unused lumber and other reuseable materials. And after a couple of hours work. Below is the result. The target stands 4 feet high and uses an old computer casing as pellet backstop. I may have to replace it later with heavier gauge metal sheet or plate. The components, metal sheet backer plate, used plywood to hold target paper, target paper, target stand frame(pre-assembled). To setup: just hold the frame in one corner, and it will expand by itself. Once free standing, attach the brace so the whole frame does not collapse. Screwing the brace securely. Mounting the backer plate, this is a free swinging backer so as not to absorb the full force of the pellets. Mounting the plywood where the target paper will be attached. Tacking in the target paper. Finally, Target Stand Fully Assembled Now we're ready to punch holes in it.
