I dont know if you have tried this.
I was trying to minimized the impact sound of pellets hitting the trap, so I placed an old towel folded several times and hanged it freely at the back of the target.Later checked and found out that the trapped pellets are in good condition. Some with minute scratches or small dent on the sleeves maybe from falling and hitting the gound. But could easily be repaired or corrected and I was able to reused the pellets for some more fun.

Good idea bro but I think that is only good for AG's with low FPS, dunno if you tried using .22's flying at around 600FPS even at 25 meters goes through 3/8" plyboard.
What I tried, to minimize the sound on my pellet trap/target mount, was to glue sheets of used paper (newspapers, notebooks) once it dries out it creates a very nice and strong pellet stopper which can be used as backer on your pellet trap. Will try to post pics.

Initial design, mangled at 80mtrs using my 0.22 CB-A. Need to change the backing with a thicker plate. New design, changed the backing (10X thicker) and filled up the front with 2 inch think foam. The foam is for the pellets not to ricochet Drop in printable targets At the practice day, @25mtrs to be able to take a picture. My digital cam do not have the high zoom feature...wait till I get my D40 -> 80X to 300X

during my rounds sa warehouse I always try to look for thing that I can use for airgun ( one example was a homemade ghillie suit hehehe) anyway one time I saw some discarded pieces of flatbars that had a couple holes drilled on them for the bolts, and thought this could be a potential target stand. Its a bit worn already from exposure to the elements. I use to shoot it a 30-40 meters, I dont use it anymore after replacing its rubber pad and board with thicker material, the pelets just bounce off, in the older material the pellets just gets embedded in the pad and board . last week I saw what I was looking for in quite a while,an old 10 x 13 x 22 crate that was in a pile firewood. i cleaned it sprayed it with machine green color, add piece of wood on the front to prevent the pellets from roling over the box. then I add some used plastic curtain strip inside to absorb the blows of the pellets. used it in a overlapping way (kind of like the dragon scale vest concept ). works quite well, not a dent on the board and some of the pellets gets stuck on the curtain. You can still hear the sound of impact but not too much. I only used it at 10-15 meters on prone and sitting. i cover the front part with a carton and spray some black dots to act as my markers. total package: looks like it was done by monkey (a monkey with an airgun bwahahahah) How it work: very good Cost: wala (all materials were found in our shop)

Nice one bro twoshot,
You are achieving several things here, re-use & recycle! make a no cost equipment and most of all have fun. It does'nt really have to look nice as long it serves its purpose.
I also have some similar project using scrap materials which I set aside for the moment. Now you are giving me the inspiration to finish it. hehehe.
Gud day bro!

INNOVATIVE. YOU CAN ALSO USE DUCT SEAL..MEDYO MAHAL NG KONTI PERO SONUD PROOF. JUST POUR DUCT SEAL TO YOUR BACKSTOP. PWEDE RIN MELTED LEAD PELLETS. MAKE A MOLD WITH THE SAME DIMENSION NG BOX. LEAD PELLETS WILL STICK TO IT...ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY PA....PAG WALANG PERA BENTA ANG BACK STOP....BUMIBIGAT YUN, EVERYTIME YOU SHOOT...HE HE HE

Here's a link to some pellet trap/target stand for 10M shooting should you be interested in making your own shooting range. Build your own Home Range

Bro. Heightaddict
D puwede lead kasi poisonous ang lead fumes pag tinunaw mo ito kaya may recycling plant ang pagawaan ng battery. Can cause heavy metal buildup in blood leading to other diseases
Verify mo sa OSHC sa Quezon City near SM North Edsa , Trinoma or beside the Metrotrain stock yard for more information.
To look at it is recommended na ang kapal ng back stop ay 4.5 mm thick for high power air guns up to 22 cal. I looked at the commercial versions and the back stop is 3/16 thick. if not use a dirt mount angled at 45 degrees as backstop cheaper pa.
