Mang Pepe is a popular (Air)Gunsmith here in Davao especially among the seasoned airguneros. He used to make airguns back then (in the '80s). The most notable design of his airgun is the under lever kocking, copied in the old wild wild west guns. Also the airguns are designed to be very compact since these were intended for hunting back then. Most of the parts are brass. I've met Mang Pepe when I was a teenager starting to get interested in shooting airguns. I got in touch with him while looking for someone to fix an old .177 Benjamin Pistol. He got it fixed and converted it to CO2 and did away with the Pump. That's where I saw the guns he was making. Here are some pics: This one is Mang Pepe's own, a custom dual charging (CO2 or via pump) Airgun. This is an old gun, look at the weathered wood. Checkering was also done by him. This one also sports a long barrel than the usual ones he makes. Here's a Full view of the gun.Another Angle.A closer view on the other side, check out the nice checkering.Top View.A closer view of the receiver, underlever and the grip checkering.Another closer view of the forend.Production models: This one is what I would call his "production model" according to him he only made around 200 pieces and a lot of those have custom mods as per client. The one pictured below is the most common you may find. By the way this particular gun is already a reconditioned/restored one, this was left in a fish farm and subjected to the elements. Just wasn't able to take a pic of it so we could have some before and after shot. Here are some pics I was able to take while the gunstock is being restored. Old finishing was stripped off and checkering was being redone to restore its detail. The gunstock, notice that it is sleek and slim to make the gun lighter and handier for hunting. Wood used for this one was Philippine Cedar. Underside view of the stock, Black accents used are carabao horn by the way.The checkering is done on this side.Here's a close-up view.Another close-up, reverse side. More pics to followThese guns are considered collector's item since Mang Pepe does not make them anymore. Though he still services those that come back to him for repair or reconditioning from time to time. I saw one similar to the production model being restored, already with dings and dents on the air reservoir. It still fetched 10K! When I first met the guy the guns cost only 4K brand new.

Here's the updated pictures on the restored Pepe's AG. Work was mostly done on the stock and the external finish of the gun. The internal parts are still in great condition. Just some new orings and maybe a new hammer spring. This is how the gun looks after restoration. Here's a bolt action model for Mang Pepe's Airgun. This is also a very special piece as it is custom built in size. This one is scaled down to fit a young shooter. Notice the foot-long ruler for comparison. Here's it is being modeled by bro Batmon. And here it is beside an Armscor AG. We fondly call this model, Pepe's Junior ;-)

Here's another version of Pepe's creation. This one is modeled after the Winchester 94. There were two made and luckily this one surfaced back for checking. Though it did not have any leaks the rear sight needed to be replaced. Lever release for kocking Open bolt, Lever down. Top View A closer view of the grip

I think I am one of the very very few people in Manila who appreciates a footpump. Price reasonable for a custom made in the 80's if 790FPS. Ilang FPS kaya if pump and ilang pumping? I like this one even if some peole do not like the tank extending to the tip of the barrel. Hindi ba mahirap i-kock ang underlever type?

The Footpumps is actually the predecessor of today's PCP, and this particular gun was test fired with 1000 pumps of charge. Though at that time chrono and pressure gauges were uncommon, it did give a very loud report and the poor housebird got flattened. We are actually planning on doing the test and document it this time. When time permits.

It is actually very convinient to kock an underlever rifle.

Pasensya na kung medyo makulit. I can't help but compare it to a bolt action where the coc king gets a little harder with stiffer springs (for higher FPS setups). So, I am just trying to visualize the effects of pushing the underlever will have on the front side of my fingers after so or more coc ks. But I can also imagine that is is not as hard as a bolt type kasi sa bold type you pull the spring while the under-lever, well, its a lever type so you using some kind of fulcrum. Hmmm. Dapat yata ipahawak ko muna sa mrs ko ang wallet ko.

This ain't a springer bro, its the same good old C02 AG. The only difference is that it is kocked using the under lever. If there's a hammer type and bolt action this one's an underlever. But the inner mechanism is similar with bolt-action it only differs in the way it is kocked.

1000? thats good for how many shots? 100?
@bro james
im also going back to the debomba types just for nostalgic sake and economical reasons. also i always wanted to have a pcp, just couldnt afford one. i'll just opted for a "poorman's pcp" . a pcp is a pcp. heheeheh

@bro twoshot, the 1000 pumps is not good for a hundred shots, If you notice it is still the common "de-bomba" and the air reservoir will not have that much volume to churn out the number of shots. The purpose of the experiment is to get more compressed air(=pressure). It the same principle as using a manual pump to charge a pcp.
And yes I would agree that the de-bomba is a poorman's pcp, heck it would be its pre-decessor.
cguro pag sinipag pde namin i try ulit ang 1000 pumps for the sake of documentation hehehe.
