Does anyone have a review of rifle scopes?
I do not have contact with airgun hunters or competitors to whom scopes, or rather a good scope, matters like dear life itself. My eyes are also not that "clear" anymore unable to readily distinguish differences in clarirty. And I do not have enough range in Manila to plink leisurely and to observe. So, my learning curve in scopes have been a little stiff.
One day, I was able to have a good conversation with a balikbayan hunter. He was a hunter before going to the U.S, while in the U.S.(with hunting license), and upon his return from the U.S. He told me to peep through the scopes in dark places and carefully observe the outline of the object which you are viewing. The clearer the outline, the better the scope. There are of course other ways to judge the quality of a scope.
To cut the story short, after firing about 30-50 pellets for each type of scope on several occasion, I was able to feel varying degrees of tiredness or stress in my eyes. Hitting targets seems to be easier with the more expensive scopes (including the more expensive clones) but I may now be biased. And of course, expensive may depend on where you buy your scopes as some people or shop may be selling them at a higher price. I have not yet fully appreciated AO scopes but they are the ones with dials in the front end of the scope usually with yard or YDS markings. They are for parallax adjustment so the reticle will have the same "lock" on the target even if you look through the scopes at slightly different eye-to-scope distance.
Medyo malabo? Just google for the explanation of what AO means but they can also be used for range finding.
But as a general guide, I classify scopes into 3 (for simplicity as tehre are bound to be further sub-classifications)
Class A - Original brands. Of course, one brand or model may be better than the other.
Class B - The more expensive copy.
Class C - Cheap China clones - the fake Tasco/Busnell we often see.
I really do not know how to review a scope and do not have the time and space for it. I hope someone who is actually using a scope for hunting and competition has or can make a review or share their expert opinion.
