hello guys,
want to share how i wash and lube my pellets. i also prep my steel barrel with wax. Barrel maintenance is the key to accuracy and proper lubrication is the key to longevity.
okay, you need to have the following: clean cloth, liquid degreaser (dishwashing) vessel(vienna sausage can), toilet paper and a box of airgun pellets
pour a good amount of liquid degreaser to can and the a box of pellets.
shake can. transfer liquidand pellets back and forth.
see how dirty the pellets. those lead shavings can ruin a good shot. the degreaser gets rid of the oil or other lubricants.
after i sort and resize my pellets (i always do this after the washing) i put it all inside my pellet can. this chain lube White Lightning can be bought in any bicycle stores. if you can get Krytech, maybe you can try that too. i understand they both work well, its just that Mac1 sells the Krytech. used by USFT Champions.
make five drops for every 200 pellets. make sure to shake the bottle well. the wax is suspended by a solvent that dries quickly. quickly spread the liquid on the cover. Shake in alternate directions and rotations so the pellets get a good chance at rubbing each other and contacting the underside of the lid
PREPPING THE BARREL:
YOU NEED TO HAVE:
barrel cleaning chemical
pull thru system
patches
White Lightning
i use RainX for my barrel cleaning. works fine for me, but you should get Hoppes or any cleaning solvent for your barrel. i wet a cloth and pull it from breech to muzzle. pulling from where IMO is not a BIG matter. but you should be very careful with the pulling using monofilament cords or nylons coz theres good chance you could ruin your crown
WRONG WAY
RIGHT WAY
after making sure my barrel is squeaky clean (with Rain X it squeaks..lol) get a toilet paper and cut in half. pull a couple until paper comes out clean
apply liquid wax just at the end of the fold and let dry, pull a couple more to evenly apply wax inside the barrel.
shoot a couple of shots.
the lube extends barrel cleaning intervals by reducing the amount of friction between pellet and bore. The wax gets burnished into the pores of the steel and leaves a shiny finish like a waxed car with all the irregularities of the surface smoothed over. Like a waxed car, the cleaning chore is much easier. You never have to pull more than 5 patches through a conditioned barrel to have it spotless and ready to kick butt again. Lubes will not only condition the bore, but protect it from corrosion, and the wax will let your gun shoot a few FPS more as well. The lube dries on the pellet leaving only a waxy film that will not attract dirt and won't attack your breech seals or leave a mess on your shirt or pants from wiping your wet fingers.
