This thread used to be titled: Airgun BenchRest Shooting but due to the inputs contributed by our posters I have decided to give it a new name as it is now becoming more interesting. We hope that readers who may have the memorabilia, publications, events documentation, take the time to post and share them here. Especially during the time when blogging and forums (internet as a whole) was not yet present in the Philippines.

bro Cobra,
I am not in a position to answer your question as to what rules we are following as a whole country, there are other more experienced shooters who may be able to answer that.
But in our case, and as far as my own experience is concerned. Benchrest and Metallic Silhouette rules are very similar in its basic and standard format. What will differ in each country or club is how they organize the games.
We try to combine two events like BR-MS to make it more fun and interesting while applying the basic and standard rules, so in effect it will be a combination of rules from different disciplines. We also organize games like pure Bench Rest (Paper punching) using UKBR rules. Or shoot standard MS using NRA rules. The main point of which is to expose aspiring shooter to experience different events so that later they can choose a specialization where they know they can excel.
I have known shooter who are good at 10M format but will not be as good on MS shooting though they both are shot in offhand position.
Cheers!

Bro.,
Come to think of it. AGs competition is still young here in the Philippines unlike the powder burner competitions. Maybe if we try to make this sport popular, we might have future gold medalists

That's exactly the goal bro, here in Davao, competitive airgunning has been sidelined due to several reasons and our goal is to rekindle the interest among airgun enthusiasts. Avid competitive shooters here have to go to CDO or Cebu just to compete.
With what we have started we hope to bring back the interest, and sustain that by making the events fun and interesting.

Bro.,
My sibling showed interest in AGs when I told that I will teach the basics. So when I come home that is what I will do.
The following I will teach her: 1. Familiarization of an AG. 2. Gun Safety 3. zeroing in a target. 4. Maintenance and Care of an AG. 5. Practice shooting with adult supervision
Any more suggestions from you?

i remember back in the 80's, airgun competitions was in. that was the time when 10m rifles made by Harlies, Centerpoint, Rogunz, etc.. dominated. i remember here in Bacolod, Rodson air rifles (new at the time) sent 6 rifles for display....and it dominated the 10m competitions, at the time held at Olympus Gym. Airgun Competitions is not new. it simply faded in time due to nonavailability of equipment, expensive equipments and simply sticking to one format...10m

In the 80s most of us are into Politics and firearms that's why the sport fade away but it time to rekindle it. In Manila it was not in and never heard of the Air rifle competition. I only heard in the news about Tac in the pistol competition, his shooting practice, expenses in the sport and what support he got from the government

There should be variety in the format. I know of accomplished 10M shooter who even if they are very good at it will say that it is boring. Maybe because in their area no one will step up to challenge them. Creating a new event will make them more interested to shoot again, even if the activity is just to distract them from the usual shooting format they are overly familiar with already.

Bro Height, Good thing that you have the old mags. Are the Clubs still existing today? Maybe what was lacking in the Martial Law years was it was not published as most sports in the National Dailies and Tabloids. I read in the Manila Bulletin, Daily Inquirer, Kinse, sometimes taliba in the sports section are mostly basketball, swimming, tennis, track and field, Malboro tours, horse race tips but no air guns or I have missed or skipped it while reading. The name Squires Bingham was famous during Martial Law and was changed to Armscor during the 80s. I guess that being under licensed to manufacture the M-16 they change their name to Armscor because Squires Bingham name is a foreign sounding name. I have not opened this website because it is blocked by the company server but I can open it later in my own internet to read www.armscor.com.ph/article1.htm about Squires Bingham Can we search about the publishers of the magazine and those people who in during those time and maybe we can post a thread on them. Any of you who are friends,or relatives of the people who started it all.
