hello mr. amistad,
my apologies for that. that time the yahoo group is under attack by "holy art thou greenies" my site is actually open, unmoderated since 2003. because of this its one if not the best site to go when it comes to philippine airgunning (average of 600 post per month). since its open, environmentalist have been peeking and getting notes from my group. it was then decided to closed it and filter out the greenies. it was then decided that novice, guest should have at least a member for reference....whether a hunter or just plain plinker....airgunnners are under attack. the issue of the wildlife act is still debatable, not clear, not specific....but ill not get into that. it is good to know that new airgun/hobby forums are coming out...good for us hobbyist!
again Mr Amistad, my apologies, and you are very much welcome to join the group....the more, the merrier!

Thanks bro height, I myself joined the forum but wondered after a few days when I tried to log in, it was gone. I know that airgun hobbyist are being watched by "greenies". That is why I wanted to make this forum an avenue for other Airgun Activities other than hunting.
I personally do not condone nor promote hunting of wildlife. I do however want to suggest that we can find a way to have a win-win solution about the issue. But that will be discussed in another thread in the future.

Hunting animals should be in the form of pest control, animal population control, or for food and not for trophy although, philisophically, one can eat his trophy which is fine by me just as long as the carcass is not left to waste and the animal is not an endangered species or protected wildlife. Serious hunters even take it upon themselves to ensure a clean kill - much cleaner than practiced in most slaughter houses or in some household kitchens.
"greenies" can and do exaggerate or overreact. But when the world criticized China for killing stray dogs(or was it cats) to prevent a possible epidemic from spreading, the government retorted back - how about the people or something like that? I do felt the world looked not only at one side of the coin but at only a small part of that side.
Hunting wll always be an easy subject to pick on by "holier than thou" individuals or groups because it is a nice topic to pick on. Like the Hayden Kho tapes which even reached the senate. But a lady, whose tape was uploaded and who later committed suicide as a direct result thereof was not given proper justice by the senate. Publicity seems more important than life. Or rather, more important than preventing the loss of another innocent life.
So much for my personal views lest we be preyed again.
However, through this forum we can teach people to be more responsible. Hunting for food is a most basic human right. But for the record, I have never hunted animals for more than 20 years now. A few years back I wanted to go hunting but my wife forbade me. I have to go deeper into the forest and NPAs are rumored to wander there sometimes. The animals I can hunt in nearby areas are small birds which I do not deem suitable for food although the locals there hunt them for food. So, what I did was shoot paper targets and cans. But looking back, I should have used a better quality scope. And somehow, shooting cans is more fun than shooting paper targets. Although the later has a very useful purpose shooting cans was fun for a change. Come to think of it maybe I'll create a can-mangling club for people who like bouncing cans around with airguns. How does Can-Manglers Club of the Philippines or CMCP sounds?
For "greenies" who may happen to chance upon this forum, airgunning (if that would be a proper term) is more than killing innocent animals even for food. There are competition shooters who have never killed animals, some concentrate on field targets or silhouette shooting because they love the outdoors but hunting in the woods is tiresome or boring, takes too much time, or maybe they just don't want to take another life.
I think banning airguns will be impossible. Airguns have been in our society for a long time. Some boy's and even girl's, at some time in their young life fancied hunting or shooting. An airgun may also be a prelude to real guns in some future time. Through this forum, and I think I speak for most enthusiast, we hope to take that wildness and irresponsibility out of "reckless" people by example.
So aside from FUN, we hope to teach RESPONSIBILITY and show RESPONSIBILITY by example.
Well, that is my opinion and I hope people respect that. Opposite views shared in civilized manners also welcome.
